Fitness Tips You May Not Know About

By Robert Madden

Working out alone, day after day, can easily get boring. You may find yourself quitting your fitness routine after just a week or two, and with no one to hold you accountable, you're off the wagon again. A simple way to remedy this is to find a partner with similar fitness goals to work out with. Try some of these tips for working out with a partner to keep you on track.

If you have decided to take up running or any other high impact sport then you will want to give yourself some slow training time at the beginning. This is to allow your body, including your muscles and bones, to strengthen so that you don't suffer any types of injuries.

A great exercise to help increase your vertical leap is to stand at the edge of a step or short stool with the back of your feet hanging off, and jump backwards. When your feet hit the ground you should immediately jump back up on the step. Repeat this as fast as you can.

Before doing an exercise, especially one you've never done before, be sure to find out the correct form and amount of resistance you should be using. Often times, this is best checked by watching your movements in a mirror or having a friend or partner help you. Incorrect form can lead to limited results or injury.

If reaching your fitness goal is hindered by your excess weight or joint problems, try water aerobics exercises. In this case you use the swimming pool as your gym. As a result you reduce your body fat, burn extra calories and build lean muscles without putting extra pressure on your joints.

When you begin fitness training, focus on developing the habit of training more than the training itself. Set up a specific time to train each day and devote that time to training activities. It does not have to be a long time - 15 minutes will do. The activities do not have to be difficult - a walk will do. Just establish the habit firmly.

If gaining muscle is your fitness goal, you will need to consume more calories than you burn and lift heavier weights for fewer repetitions. So, determine how many calories your body needs to maintain its weight, then make sure you are consuming more than that. As for the weights, aim for six to eight repetitions per set.

Take a fitness mini-vacation and mental health day! Give yourself a day off to enjoy exercising, spending time in nature, and generally doing enjoyable physical activities. Whether alone or with friends, you will return from your exercise break invigorated and ready to face the stresses of daily life once more.

As you can see, becoming physically fit is something that anyone can do with a little motivation. Make an exercise plan for yourself and stick to it using the tips from this article, and soon you'll see how much better your life is when you're in good shape. Give it a try!
